Bell of Lost Souls did a little Eldar codex review. I never know entirely how to feel about these pieces because you often get conflicting reviews given that is just like your opinion, man. For example, and correct me if I'm wrong, the Way of Saim Hann (Fritz) has often been quoted as saying Vypers are not to be taken, glass cannons that they are. While others vehemently defy this opinion in favor of the idea that they use them in conjunction with other tactics, for example blowing up a tank with the Vyper and then rushing in with a wave serpent full of nastiness to destroy the gooey contents of said tank (rhino).
I suddenly realize most tactics revolve around killing space marines.

As much as I partially agree with those tactics people really underestimate a lot of what Eldar have in their army.
Just look at most of their units. Sure they are all fragile except for some tanks and wraithguard/wraithlords, but they have sooo much speed, and hitting power that you just can't ignore them.
A lot of people look at how and army plays against other space marines and then judges whether or not the army is any "good" or "competitive." I believe this is complete BS. As much as the game is designed GW doesn't make it so the next new codex is the "win button," every time. Every army can win given good strategy, army list design, and a bit of luck.
I look at this guy's post about Eldar and I totally disagree with most of his points. First off, Eldrad is a special character and is too good not to use. I admire people who try not to use such powerful characters in their lists, but rather rely upon their basic HQ choices to win the day. Avatar's are awesome and work best in conjunction with a Farseer nearby to lend support.
Fire Dragons are awesome and can devaste an entire MEQ squad, vehicle, or monstrous creature in one turn of shooting. Banshees/Scorpions might be toughness 3 but have sooo many good things going for them. Banshess have power weapons and always strike first for christsake! Scorpions have Str 4, with 4 attacks a piece on the charge and a save of 3+!
The man didn't even touch on how effective Dire Avengers are in this edition. Bladestorm, Defend are amazing for Exarch powers and can turn basic troops into either defensive tarpits, or offensive killing machines.
Warp spiders are still awesome and pretty nasty. Shining spears are costly for their abilities but if used correctly aren't half bad.
I disagree that Falcons are the must have Eldar Vehicle to use. In fact I would say no to that and rely purely upon Fire Prisms and a Nightspinner. That combo for their point cost is just too darn good. 375 points for 3 Ordanace templates a turn.... please.....
I must say that Eldar are still awesome. Yes their codex needs work and their are particular things that should be added/changed but again any army is effective under the right general.
That article was a waste of internet space. He just gave his opinion without any in-depth rationale to back his thoughts up.
I'm glad to see this got such strong opinions from both of you.
At the end of the day every army has its merits and I have no idea why people insist on looking at an army from a tournament standpoint.
That said, I'll just follow the words of the Dude and take the "Wisdom of the Internet" with a grain of salt.
